BMW 3: Route details

Concept

When destination guidance is activated, a list of route sections can be displayed.

General information

The following information is displayed:

  • Display of destination guidance information, such as turn information or lane information.
  • Traffic events and traffic flow.
  • Points of Interest along the route. Points of Interest can be selected and transferred directly to the destination guidance.
  • Possible stops along the route, such as gas station recommendations.
  • Display of information along the route, such as for dangerous curves.

Displays

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Move the Controller to the right.

3. "Route preview"

Route magnet

Concept

With active destination guidance, the route displayed on the map can be adjusted manually. To do this, use a marking point on the route, the 'route magnet,' to drag the route in the desired direction.

General information

As an alternative, the route magnet can be used via the touchscreen.

When destination guidance is active, the route magnet can also be accessed via the information window on the map.

Open route magnet

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Move the Controller to the right.

3. "Route preview".

4. Move the Controller to the right.

5. "Add route magnet".

Setting a route magnet

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Press the Controller.

3. "Interactive map".

4. Use the crosshairs to select the route section for which the route magnet must be set.

  • To change the scale: turn the Controller.
  • To shift the map: move the Controller in the required direction.
  • To shift the map diagonally: move the Controller in the required direction and turn it.

5. Press the Controller.

6. "Add route magnet"

Editing a route magnet

1. If necessary, tilt the controller to select the route section in which the route magnet must be processed.

2. Press the Controller.

3. Select the desired setting:

  • "Modify route magnet": modify changed route once more.
  • "Remove route magnet": restore the original route.

Alternative routes

Concept

If possible, alternative routes are suggested during active destination guidance.

General information

The alternative routes can be displayed and changed on the map via an information window for destination guidance. The information window is displayed automatically after starting the destination guidance.

Displaying alternative routes

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Move the Controller to the right.

3. "Route preview".

4. Move the Controller to the right.

5. "Alternative route".

Display

An overview showing the current route and the suggested alternative routes is displayed. The routes are displayed in color on the map.

The following details are displayed:

  • Arrival time and, if applicable, the delay due to the current traffic situation.
  • Route length.
  • The icon indicates the energy consumption for the route. The more leaves are displayed, the more efficient the route.
  • Costs for toll, for example, that may be incurred on the route.

Online alternative routes

General information

Online alternative routes are transmitted online to the vehicle. As soon as online alternative routes are available, they will automatically be displayed on the Control Display and can be applied to the destination guidance.

Information about traffic obstructions and forecasts are taken into account for this.

If the dynamic destination guidance has been activated along with the online alternative routes, available online alternative routes are automatically adopted in the destination guidance.

Activating/deactivating

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Move the Controller to the right.

3. "Settings".

4. "Configure services".

Plan possible stops along the route

Concept

For the active destination guidance, a Points of Interest search can be used to plan possible stops along the route, e.g. to refuel or charge or to take a break.

General information

With the most current navigation data, information regarding individual gas stations may have changed. For instance, certain gas stations may not be operating.

Gas station recommendations are displayed in the Route list.

Opening

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Move the Controller to the right.

3. "Route preview".

4. Move the Controller to the right.

5. "Places to stop".

6. Search for desired Points of Interest category, e.g., gas stations.

7. "Filter": adjust the search criteria as needed.

8. If necessary, "Show results" 9. Select a Points of Interest.

Details are displayed.

10. If necessary, "Start guidance".

Traffic preview

Concept

Only the traffic flow is displayed in the view of the route.

Displays

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Move the Controller to the right.

3. "Route preview".

4. Move the Controller to the right.

5. "Reduced display".

Learning navigation

Concept

If multiple identical departures from the proposed route are made, this deviation is taken into account in future route planning.

Destinations that have been transferred to the destination guidance repeatedly will also be considered for future route planning and may be suggested automatically.

Activating/deactivating

1. Press the button on the Controller.

2. Move the Controller to the right.

3. "Settings".

4. "Configure services".

5. "Learn route".
