BMW 3: PostCrash - iBrake
Concept
In the event of an accident, the system can bring
the vehicle to a halt automatically without intervention
by the driver in certain situations. This
can reduce the risk of a further collision and the
consequences thereof.
At standstill
After coming to a halt, the brake is released automatically.
Harder vehicle braking
In certain situations, it can be necessary to bring
the vehicle to a halt more quickly than the Brake
Assistant allows.
To do this, quickly apply extra force to the brake.
For a brief period, the braking pressure will be
higher than the braking pressure that is achieved
by the automatic braking function. Automatic
braking is interrupted.
Interrupting automatic braking
It can be necessary to interrupt automatic braking
in certain situations, for instance for an evasive
maneuver.
Interrupt automatic braking:
- By pressing the brake pedal.
- By pressing the accelerator pedal.
