BMW 3: Music hard disk
General information
Tracks from CDs and USB storage devices can
be stored on the music hard disk in the vehicle
and played from there.
Tracks with Digital Rights Management DRM
copy protection can be stored but cannot be
played back.
Regularly back up your music hard disk, otherwise
the stored music might be lost if there is a
fault on the hard disk.
Storing from CD
1. Insert the audio CD into the CD player.
2. "MEDIA".
3. "CD".
4. Move the Controller to the right.
5. "Save CD".
The CD is stored on the music hard disk.
Follow the following during the storage process:
- Do not remove the CD during storing, as this
could interrupt the storage process.
- The music hard disk is switched to. Tracks
that have already been transferred can be
played back immediately.
- Tracks from the CD cannot be played back.
- Switching to other audio sources is possible.
Canceling storing from CD
1. "MEDIA".
2. "CD".
3. Move the Controller to the right.
4. "Cancel saving".
Storing from a USB storage
device
1. Connect the USB storage device to the USB
interface.
2. "MEDIA".
3. "USB".
Or: Select the name of the USB storage device.
4. Move the Controller to the right.
5. "Import music data".
6. Select music folders, music tracks, or playlists.
The audio data is stored on the music hard
disk.
Follow the following during the storage process:
- Do not remove the USB storage device during
storing, as this could interrupt the storage
process.
- The tracks on the USB storage device can
still be played back.
- Switching to other audio sources is possible.

1. "MEDIA"
2. "USB"
Or: Select the name of the USB storage device.
3. Move the Controller to the right.
4. "Cancel import"
